Controversies over missile defense in Europe FIIA A 31-page Finnish working paper considering controversies over the use of missile defence in Europe

Are Right-Wing Extremists Back? Echoes of 1995: The Department of Homeland Security warns in a new report of a resurgence of right-wing extremist groups fueled by the recession and the election of the nation’s first black president. Their targets? Returning veterans who have “combat skills and experience” and might feel isolated as they have a hard time reintegrating into society amid a job-destroying recession. Homeland Security is also worried about people who are stockpiling weapons in anticipation of stricter gun control laws. The groups are using Obama’s election as a rallying cry, using distorting propaganda to recruit angry members, the report warns. It’s all a chilling reminder of the early 1990s, when a recession and a perceived drop in global prominence caused a spate of right-wing extremist violence that culminated in the Oklahoma City bombings.

The Role of the Ministerial Advisor in Security Sector Reform: Navigating Institutional Terrains

· The Pirate Economy

BY: Peter Pham | Foreign Policy

Somali piracy is quite the opposite of the helter-skelter often portrayed in the media; it is a highly structured enterprise built around a number of syndicates. Pirate bases in Eyl, in the northeastern Puntland region, and in Xarardheere, in central Somalia, stand out for their audacity and for the resources they command.

· How to Solve the Pirate Problem

BY: Jonah Goldberg | Los Angeles Times Why has this become so complicated? I don't mean finding and shooting pirates, which can be quite difficult, according to experts. I mean the issue of piracy, which has been around since the 13th century BC. And it hasn't gotten any more complex.

What they have said about Foreign Press Review
"FPR'ın iki "kötü" özelliği var: 1. Alışkanlık yaratıyor, onsuz yapamaz hale geliyorsunuz; 2. Değeri alındığı değil, arada bir de olsa, alınamadığı vakit anlaşılıyor. Bir de sürekli bir kaygıya yol açıyor; 'Ya bir gün kesilir ve onu hiç alamazsam' duygusuyla sürekli yaşamak kolay değil."

Cengiz Çandar

"... fantastic .... an outstanding and unique service, not just for those who follow Turkey closely, but those who follow international trends and ideas. ... selection of material is some of the best anywhere ... coverage of the Turkish press and Turkish issues is truly unsurpassed .... outstanding and intelligent service"
