Commentary Hunting the PKK by Max Boot

FT WORLD NEWS: US alarm over Turkey's Iraq incursion plan Peter Rodman, a former senior Bush administration Pentagon official, argued that from the US standpoint it would be preferable that Turkey sent troops into northern Iraq rather than cut off crucial military supply lines because of the Armenian genocide resolution. "Maybe that is the only solution," said Mr Rodman, now at the Brookings Institution. "If the US is unable to deal with it [the PKK], and the Iraqis are unwilling to deal with them, what else do you tell the Turks? There may be ways to go after the PKK and accomplish something, whereas strangling our logistical lifeline doesn't help them with the PKK and it just creates a monumental problem."

'Operasyon PKK'yı bitirmez'

ABD Dışişleri Bakanlığı, Türkiye'nin Kuzey Irak'a olası sınır ötesi operasyonunun PKK'yı bitiremeyeceğini ve örgütün eylemlerinin devam edeceğini ileri sürdü. Europe has just as much to lose as Turkey if the doubters prevail in the membership battle.

Led astray Stephen Kinzer: Pushing the Armenian genocide resolution through Congress is a reckless act that reflects the corruption of the American political system.

Why they hate us Patricia Weitsman The fraying strategic partnership between Turkey and the United States goes deeper than the tiff over the Armenian genocide resolution.

What they have said about Foreign Press Review
"FPR'ın iki "kötü" özelliği var: 1. Alışkanlık yaratıyor, onsuz yapamaz hale geliyorsunuz; 2. Değeri alındığı değil, arada bir de olsa, alınamadığı vakit anlaşılıyor. Bir de sürekli bir kaygıya yol açıyor; 'Ya bir gün kesilir ve onu hiç alamazsam' duygusuyla sürekli yaşamak kolay değil."

Cengiz Çandar
